False fennel, Eupatorium leptophyllum, is blooming along the roads in and around our neighborhood.
Look closely to inspect the miniscule flowers on the wispy branches of this native plant of the southeastern United Stages. False fennel is related to asters and daisies.

Around Carters Lake, there are several great family-friendly hiking trails. Fall is a wonderful time to discover some of the off-the-water activities of this beautiful area we call home.

There are also more than 100 picnic sites around Carters Lake and any of the recreation areas are a perfect place to spread your blanket with family and friends.
