The Tsuchinshan-ATLAS comet, taken at the dam by Northbank Park on Carters Lake last night.

Northbank Park has an open astronomy field for the use of viewing and photographic equipment during the evening and daytime. The field offers open views from east to west – north to south approximately 25-30 degrees in altitude from the horizon. The field is used for astronomy programs and has several interpretive panels educating on various astronomical topics.

Gilmer County is known as the “Apple Capital of Georgia” and is the home of the annual Georgia Apple Festival in October.

This year’s dates are October 12 and 13 and October 19 and 20.

The delicious apples are now available at our local “Apple Houses”.

One of the advantages of having an owners association is the maintenance of our community’s common areas.
